The National Capital Region 2013 speedcubing competition will take place in Rockland, Ontario on May 18th, 2013. This is the May long weekend. For full information, click here.

The Vancouver Open, Summer 2013 speedcubing competition will take place in Vancouver, British Columbia on August 3rd, 2013. This is the weekend immediately following the World Championships. This is a great opportunity for any visitors to North America for Worlds to take in another WCA competition in a beautiful city. For full information, click here.

Rowe Hessler won the Montreal Open 2013 with an average of 9.53 seconds. Justin Jaffray finished second (10.24) and Louis Cormier finished third (11.07).

There was a number of records set at the competition. Emily Wang set the National Record for 5x5x5 average at 1:11.55. Emily wasn't done there, setting the North American record for Megaminx with an average of 54.96. Antoine Cantin added to his NR collection setting new records for One Handed Single (11.75) and One Handed Average (16.10). And finally, Julian David became the first Canadian to successfully solve a 5x5x5 Blindfolded, with a time of 18:10.

Harris Chan won the Toronto Open, Winter 2013 with an average of 9.62 seconds. Antoine Cantin finished second (10.15) setting a new National Record for single solve at 7.16 seconds. And Emily Wang finished third (10.15).

We had a record turnout for a competition in Canada with over 115 competitors. Many thanks to everyone that came out to help make us finish on time, in spite of being off schedule early in the day. Kristopher De Asis won the Vancouver Open, Winter 2013 with an average of 11.46 seconds. Ibrahim Vajgel-Shedid finished second (11.63) and Jacob Hutnyk finished third (12.75).
