CUBEcentric 2010 Complete
Another canadianCUBING competition comes to an end. We had a good turn out, and though the day took longer to complete than anticipated, everyone seemed to have a good time.
Eric Limeback, once again, came out on top with an average of 10.53 seconds in the finals, which included two sub 9 solves. Emily Wang strengthened her grip on the title of fastest female on the planet by coming in second place with an average of 11.97. And Harris Chan rounded out the top three with an average of 12.42. Thanks to everyone that came out, and to all those that helped make the day possible. The next Toronto area competition will be held on August 14th, 2010. Registration will open for that sometime next month, so keep checking the website.

Eric Limeback Wins TOSp, Sets NR in First Round
With multiple media outlets on hand to capture images of Harris Chan, it was Eric Limeback that stole the show. In the first round of the 3x3x3 event, Eric became the first Canadian to average under 11 seconds, at 10.95 seconds. In the process, he became only the fourth person to hold the title of National Record holder in the category. This marked the first time since May 2007 that Harris has not held the illustrious title.
In the final round, Eric once again came out on top with an average of 11.69 seconds. Harris Chan finished second with an average of 11.81, and Emily Wang rounded out the top three with 12.45 second average.
Full result can be found here when processed by the WCA. The CBC News' report on the competition can be viewed here
Thanks to all the volunteers, parents, and cubers that helped make the competition another success. Keep your eyes on this site in the coming days for registration for the next Toronto competition, which will be held on May 15, 2010.

Harris Chan sets 3x3x3 Single NAR at TOW - 7.33
The Toronto Open took place this weekend in Toronto. The competition was a success with lots of fun had by most. Congratulations to all the winners, including Justin Jaffray who set the NR for 2x2 average, and Harris Chan for setting the NR for One Handed Single at 14.78 and average at 17.83. He also set the NAR for 3x3 single with 7.33 seconds.

Many thanks, as always, to our volunteers and cubers that jumped in to scramble or judge when needed. It is a group effort to pull these off. Thank you. We had about 100 competitors in total, with 92 competitors in the 3x3 event itself.
The next competition in Toronto will most likely be in either March or April. Keep your eye on this site for news.
