Star Toronto Open, Spring 2010 - Competition Information
About the Competition
canadianCUBING is pleased to announce the Toronto Open, Spring 2010 speedcubing competition. The competition will be held on March 27, 2010, at Seneca College's Residence and Conference Centre, which is located at 1750 Finch Ave. East, Toronto, Ontario, Canada M2J 2X5.
Once again, we are in the Oasis Room, which is located to the far right of the building (when facing it). The Oasis Room has its own doors towards the entrance of the driveway.
Please refer to the map provided for information on how to get to the venue once on the Seneca premises. It will be held in Building I on the map.
This is an official WCA event, and as such all official regulations will be followed. Please take some time to read them over before the day of the competition, especially if you have never competed before.
Registration
Click here to access the registration form. Registration for the competition will close on March 24, 2010. Please be sure to register online to take advantage of the early bird pricing. See the Cost section for details.
Costs
The cost to competitors that register online before the close date will be our standard pricing model. You will pay $10 to compete in one event. Each additional event will cost $2 to a max of $20.
If you do not register online before the close of the registration period, you can still register the morning of the competition. The price at that time, however, is $15 for the first event, $2 per additional event with no maximum fee. So be sure to register online. You can edit your events using the link found in you the email sent to you after registering.
Parking on the day of the competition will be complementary in lot P10 on the map above. But you need to stop at Building I and go in to the registration table first to pick up the pass. If you do not pick up the pass, the cost will be $8, so make sure you stop for the pass.
Cost for spectators at the competition is free of charge. So please come out and watch some of the fastest speedcubers in the country compete.

After Party
There will be an after party for the competitors and their guests that will commence following the awards ceremony in the same room as the competition. We will offer pizza with a variety of choices, if you would like something specific, leave the information in the comments section of your registration. We will have vegetarian pizzas available, as well. The cost is included in your registration fee.
Accommodations
If you are coming from out of town, we may be able to arrange for you to stay at one of our local cubers' houses. Contact us to let us know, and we will put you in contact with some of the willing cubers.
Additionally, the venue has accommodations on site for those out of town guests. The cost is an extremely reasonable $69.95 a night, plus applicable taxes, which includes a continental breakfast. Each suite offers two double beds, internet access, telephone, and cable TV. There is an additional charge of $5 for overnight parking. To book online, or find the number to call, visit their website. We suggest booking as soon as possible, as it is subject to availability.
Merchandise
canadianCUBING have a merchandise booth set up for you to purchase equipment and supplies for your cubing needs. We accept cash only. It is on a first come, first serve basis. We cannot guarentee any items. We purchased larger quantities of our regular items than we had done previously. Hopefully people will be able to get items they want before they sell out.
Volunteers
We are always looking for dedicated people to donate their time and efforts to these competitions. We need scramblers and judges for every round of every event. It is a great opportunity for parents, siblings, friends, or anyone that wants to come and be involved but does not want to compete yet. We will provide training the morning of the competition for those wishing to help out. It is not difficult, so don't be afraid! Please contact us to let us know you are willing to volunteer.
For anyone that volunteers and helps out for an entire competition, we will act as a reference if you wish to put this on your resume or college application. We will also sign any high school volunteer hour sheets provided you work the entire competition. But you must arrange this with us before the competition. Use the contact form .
